Denise Smith, MD, PhD
Dr. Denise Smith is a board-certified vascular surgeon and the medical director of Preferred Vascular Group’s Northeast center, with a particular emphasis on women’s vascular health. She is known for her expertise in the Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE) procedure, a minimally invasive treatment for uterine fibroids.
In addition to her focus on UFE, Dr. Smith specializes in vascular ultrasound interpretation and vascular access. Her comprehensive background encompasses dialysis access management and complex peripheral arterial and venous disease, including wound care.
Dr. Smith earned her doctorate in medicine from the University of Cincinnati, where she also completed her vascular surgical training. Additionally, she holds a doctorate in biomedical engineering, having conducted research on ultrasound-assisted thrombolysis at the same institution.
A proud Air Force veteran who grew up in a military family, Dr. Smith’s personal interests include hiking and making electronic dance music. Her dedication to women’s health and her approach to UFE make her an invaluable asset to her patients and the medical community.
